Azerbaijani customs officers have prevented an attempt to transit a particularly large quantity of a psychotropic substance through the country, APA-Economics reports.
As a result of operational-search and customs control measures carried out by employees of the Nakhchivan Main Customs Department, methamphetamine was discovered in a shipment of “solidified bitumen.”
Thus, at the Julfa customs post, a vehicle carrying a shipment of “solidified bitumen” from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Türkiye in transit through the territory of Azerbaijan was subjected to customs control.
The vehicle was inspected using a stationary X-ray system and a customs service dog. During the inspection, packages concealed in the cargo were detected.
The inspection revealed a particularly large quantity of the psychotropic substance methamphetamine, with a net weight of 45 kilograms 201.395 grams, packaged in 53 “brick”-shaped packages.
An investigation into the case is underway.
