Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with President of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly Khalilur Rahman in New York as part of her working visit to the United States, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.
The meeting reviewed Azerbaijan-UN relations, discussed Azerbaijan’s contributions to the work of the UN and the activities it has carried out, and emphasized the role of the Azerbaijani Parliament and its parliamentary diplomacy in the development of multilateralism in this area. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova informed the President of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly about the activities of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement.
During the conversation, the sides shared their views on the development of relations between the UN and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues.
