Penitentiary Service: â€œ5000 prisoners have been freed by the pardon orders signed in Azerbaijan since 1995â€

According to him, the pardon order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on June 22 concerned totally 66 persons: â€œ58 prisoners were released from the remained part of the term of imprisonment, 6 â€“ from the pecuniary penalty, two â€“ from the correctional works. There are no women and children among the releasedâ€.

Ramazanov said that gravity of offense and the degree of public security are considered during the pardoning: â€œMost of the pardoned persons donâ€™t commit a crime again. Rarely there are people who commit a crime negligently. Social adaptation measures are taken by us before the release of a prisoner from jail. The Cabinet of Ministers is entrusted to prepare the rehabilitation centers of the prisoners. The lonely prisoners will be accommodated in these centersâ€.

Ramazanov said that about 20% prisoners were provided with work in the correctional facilities: â€œIt remains as a big problem. The Justice Ministry, the Penitentiary Service are conducting work concerning it. Today the prisoners are involved most of all in agricultural works and individual laborâ€.
