Kemaleddin Heydarov: â€œThe emergency situations and elimination of their results must always be in the highlight of every countryâ€

Independent from the disasterâ€™s type and scale, the protection of human rights in every country and society must be ensured in case of any incident. Protection of human rights, that are one of the fundamental rights of society in Azerbaijan, are one the basic indicators of determined developmentâ€, said Minister of Emergency Situations Kemaleddin Heydarov in his speech at plenary meeting on topic â€œProtection of human rights in emergency situationsâ€ in the 10th Baku International Conference of Ombudspersons on topic â€œProtection of human rights in emergency situations: â€œproblems and opportunitiesâ€, APA reports.

In his speech on topic â€œThe emergency situations and elimination of their resultsâ€, the minister underlined that the eventâ€™s topic was enough actual. Heydarov spoke about the necessity of the ministryâ€™s establishment, its history, disasters and elimination of their results. Minister underlined that thousands of employees and special equipments of the ministry were involved in elimination of results of floods occurred in Kur and Araz rivers and added that 947 people were evacuated and 10 people were saved from drowning.

Minister also spoke about earthquakes: The seismologists determined that 60% of Azerbaijani territories are abnormally dangerous, 8-9-magnitude seismic zones. 4.5 mln people live there.

Heydarov noted that the last strong earthquake in Azerbaijan occurred on May 7. The earthquake in Zagatala occurred the next days too. Many buildings were destroyed, residential houses and social objects were damaged and happily nobody was injured in Zagatala and surrounding regions as a result of quake. Minister also spoke about the works carried out for elimination of results of natural disaster, at the same time about activity of the ministryâ€™s employees towards elimination of results of natural disasters occurred in the other countries.
