Azerbaijani Defense Ministry issues statement on soldiersâ€™ attack on fuel station

According to APA, the ministry said junior sergeant Asgarov Sahib Asgar, soldiers Mehdiyev Senan Rza and Aghayev Ulduz Abilagha of N military unit attacked the fuel station in Girly village of Aghstafa region at about 03.00 last night. The Defense Ministry immediately launched investigation and the guilty were identified and arrested.

The incident took place in the fuel station owned by Mikayil Asadov. The soldiers came to the fuel station and shot dead operator Mammad Mammadov, 33. The assaulters left the site when they saw Mammadov dead.

The regional prosecutorâ€™s office told APAâ€™s local bureau that the soldiers admitted that they were planning to rob the station, but couldnâ€™t achieve their goal because of the operatorâ€™s vigilance. Soldier Senan Mehdiyev was wounded during the assault.

The regional prosecutorâ€™s office launched criminal investigation under the Article 120.1 (deliberate murder).
