Son of former Baku prosecutor arrested over â€œecstasy caseâ€ released

Mahir Mirsalamli, the son of former prosecutor of Baku Adalat Mirsalamov was released from the medical facility of the Justice Ministry a month ago. He is receiving compulsory out-patient treatment.

Mirsalamliâ€™s lawyer Narmina Mammadova confirmed to APA that Mahir Mirsalamli is receiving compulsory out-patient treatment. She did not say anything else.

The 14-men group was rendered harmless as a result of the operations carried out by the National Security Ministry in May, 2008. A great deal of â€œecstasyâ€ was found on them. Orkhan Nadirov, son of Peopleâ€™s Artist Ilhama Guliyeva, Mahir Mirsalamli and Yalchin Hasanov, sons of former Baku and Azizbayov prosecutors Adalat Mirsalamov and Rashid Hasanov, were also among them. The members of the group faced charges under articles 234.1 (illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances) and 234.4.1 (Illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances on preliminary arrangement by group of persons or organized group) of the Criminal Code.

The court sentenced Yalchin Hasanov to 8 years, Ruslan Zaliyev to 2 years, Ruslan Rustamov to 7 years and 3 months, Ali Ismayilov to 7 years and 6 months, Zubiya Gulami to 6 years, Vugar Aliyev to 2 years, Javidan Aliyev to 2 years, Hasan Hasanov to 7 years and 3 months in jail.

Under the decision, Orkhan Nadirov wase sentenced to 11 months, Ramin Hasanov to 10 months, Kamala Eyvazova to 10 months, Elshan Budagov to 10 months and Mirali Aliyev to 10 months in jail, but they were released from the court room.

The judgment was not applied to Mahir Mirsalamli. Earlier, the court passed a judgment to stop the criminal case on him until he recovers. He received compulsory treatment in the medical facility of Justice Ministry.
