Azerbaijan’s Minister of Emergency Situations: “Russian company is expected to help to clean the estuary of Kur Riverâ€

The minister said there was a need to dig new branch of Araz River to prevent new threats created by rising of water in Araz and Kur rivers. “The new canal locks are considered to be constructed here. The Ministry of Agriculture, Melioration and Water Facilities Company and other relevant organizations will determine needed water flow in the river-bed and suitable volume of water will be leaked to the new branch. So the water flow will be controlledâ€.
Minister Heydarov said according to the experts’ opinion, the water level in Araz and Kur rivers was lowering. “There is a stable water flow in Mingachevir reservoirâ€.
The minister said dam entrenchment was continued. “The dams broken during the floods are reconstructed. The Caspian Sea Navigation and SOCAR flotilla are working there. Russian “Kasptransfrom†company, which is working in the field of deepening the sea bottom, is expected to help us. We aim to make the water flow controlled. Every organization will submit its program and after that the general national program will be prepared on the basis of their resultsâ€.
