Local authorities of 12 regions gather in Imishli to discuss new branch of Araz River

“High-pressure gas pipeline located near the newly-dug branch will be secured”

Imishli. Alibey Zeynalli – APA. Local authorities of 12 regions of Azerbaijan will gather on Saturday in Imishli region to discuss the issues related to the digging of new branch of Araz River, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Abid Sharifov told APA. Members of the state commission will also participate at the meeting. “New branch flow can reach 400-500 cubic meters/sec. We will meet to take necessary measures, first of all enhancing security of the residents and a high-pressure gas pipeline passed through the territory around the newly-dug river branch. The new branch will be dug after solution of all problems”, said Sharifov.

Sharifov said Khudaferin reservoir leakage also had an effect on lowering of Kur River’s level. “The level of Kur River is lowering now. It reached 83.19 m. Despite that we have to develop security measures. According to weather forecast, intensive rains are expected in Turkey where Kur River passes. It can be expected in Azerbaijan too”.
