Forensic medical examination report says Ideal newspaper editor-in-chief was sane while committing action

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. The Court of Grave Crimes held a hearing on the case of Nazim Guliyev, editor-in-chief and founder of the Ideal newspaper, APA reports. Judge Azer Orujov presided over the hearing. The judge declared the forensic medical examination report. According to the report, Guliyev was sane while committing the action.

Guliyev did not admit his guilt and said he had not blackmailed the sufferers. Guliyev said the sufferers had given biased testimonies. The editor-in-chief did not confirm the testimony he had given during the investigation.

Manager of the newspaper Havanisa Abdullayeva gave testimony as a witness.

The hearing will continue on December 15.

According to the indictment, Guliyev faced charges under Articles 182.2 (Extortion), 182.2.3 (extortion with use of force), 182.3.2 (extortion with a purpose of occupying large size of property), 221.1 (hooliganism) and 234.1 (Illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code.

On May 20, Nazim Guliyev was acquitted from the charge under Article 147.2 (slander, which is connected with accusation of committing serious or especially serious crime) of the Criminal Code but was given six months in prison on insult charges under Article 148 of the Criminal Code.
The lawsuit was filed by Tenzila Rustemkhanli, chairwoman of Azeri-Turk Women Association, and Sabira Mahmudova, known as “Karabakh’s Hajar”.
