US Ambassador: â€œThe National Democratic Institute had submitted much information to the Azerbaijani government which showed how $1 million was spentâ€

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. “The National Democratic Institute continues its activity in Azerbaijan. The organization had submitted much information to the Azerbaijani government which showed how $1 million was spent,” said US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar while responding to APA’s question.

“I have been informed by the government of Azerbaijan that the NDI issue is over and NDI would continue its activity in Azerbaijan to develop civil society. I was told this by the government after NDI had submitted much information which showed how $1 million was spent. I was personally satisfied that information answered all questions,” – said Ambassador Richard Morningstar.

The Azerbaijani General Prosecutor has sent a letter to the US embassy in Azerbaijan on the activity of the National Democratic Institute. Some media outlets reported that the funds allocated by the organization for the implementation of projects in Azerbaijan had been spent inappropriately by director for NDI in Azerbaijan Alex Grigorievs.
