APA reports quoting EU press service that the sides discussed the EU-Azerbaijan relations, state of human rights, freedoms and democracy in Azerbaijan, energy policy, initiatives and other issues within the "Eastern Partnership".
Štefan Füle expressed his concern over amendments to the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan Republic to impose punishment for internet insult and slander. He noted that freedom of speech can not be restricted in the internet. The Commissioner said that presidential elections in October would be an important test for Azerbaijan’s democratic development and it is important to ensure environment for the exchange of pluralistic views.
