Shamkhal Huseynov arrested in Iran calls his family

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. Shamkhal Huseynov, arrested together with employee of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Khalida Khalid in Iran on April 30 has called his family, his brother Alovsat Huseynov told APA.

Huseynov said that they had a brief conversation and his brother is currently in the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran: “The paperwork for their returning is underway. As paperwork is completed, they will return to Azerbaijan. He didn’t reveal the exact date of their return nor let me ask additional questions.”

Khalida Khalid and Shamkhal Huseynov were arrested in Tabriz on April 30. Following the two notes of Azerbaijan, Iran’s Foreign Ministry reported that they were detained because of illegal activities.

Khalida Khalid and Shamkhal Huseynov were handed to Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran yesterday.
