Baku. Mubariz Aslanov, Shamil Alibeyli – APA. “The draft resolution on the "Armenian genocide" registered at Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada will not be adopted. Even if it is adopted, I think President will have the will not to sign it,” Verkhovna Rada member from Batkivshchyna Party, leader of Crimean Tatars Mustafa Jamil told APA. He said the development of such a draft resolution is a hasty and groundless step.
“There are more Turks in Ukraine than Armenians. The authors of the draft resolution should understand that the adoption of the draft resolution will lead to dangerous developments. It may undermine Ukraine's relations with Azerbaijan, Turkey and other Turkic-speaking countries. Before passing such a decision, the authorities should think over this step,” he said.
The Verkhovna Rada member stated that he is in the same Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) faction with Arsen Avakov, one of the authors of the draft resolution, and will hold talks with him: “I will tell him that this step is unacceptable. If the faction supports this decision, I can’t stay there. At the same time, we will hold a conversation with MPs and tell them that this step will have an impact on the foreign policy of Ukraine.”
Jamil also added that if the draft resolution is approved, Turkic-speaking people are expected to hold a joint mass protest.
