Baku – APA. Heydar Aliyev Foundation has donated grant to schools for children with disabilities in Maryland State of the U.S.

Azerbaijani Embassy in the U.S. told APA that Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which is also carrying out charitable activities beyond the borders of Azerbaijan, has donated grant to schools for children with serious physical and mental disabilities in Montgomery County of Maryland, the U.S.

As a part of this aid, these schools will be provided with computerized interactive whiteboards and technology for children with disabilities.

A special ceremony was held in Longview School for children with disabilities in Maryland on June 6. The school administration, representatives of the organizations under the education system of Montgomery, representatives of local authorities and a group of disabled students attended the ceremony. Addressing the participants, representative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the United States Jamila Pashayeva-Seyidzadeh first gave information about Azerbaijan and then spoke about the brief history of the Foundation, its goals and objectives.

She touched on the diversified activities carried out under the leadership of the President of Foundation, First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva and their coverage. Pashayeva-Seyidzadeh emphasized care and attention paid to the children by President of the Foundation and said that the ceremony was held the day after "June 1 International Children's Day”, which is widely marked in our country. She said that the exchange of experience between Longview School and Azerbaijani specialized education institutions may be beneficial for both sides.

Montgomery Educational foundation's executive director Yolanda Pruitt, representative of the Centre for Educational Services of the County Laverne Kimball and coordinator at Longview Michele Mach expressed their gratitude to Heydar Aliyev Foundation for a sincere charity and highly estimated this initiative. Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the U.S. Elin Suleymanov noted that the assistance to the school, where children with disabilities are studying, is also an important contribution to deepening the relations between the two nations.


CDs containing pearls of Azerbaijani music and brochures developed by Heydar Aliyev Foundation were presented to the school’s administration. The participants were demonstrated the conditions created for the education of the disabled children in the school.
