Farhad Mammadov: â€œThe issue of peace and interreligious dialogue is very important for Azerbaijanâ€

On the one hand these relations are viewed from geopolitical standpoint, on the other hand from religious standpoint,” said Farhad Mammadov, head of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Azerbaijan, addressing the panel session as a part of the 2nd World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku, APA reports.

According to him, the Azerbaijani society is concerned that Turkey’s membership of the European Union is viewed from religious context: “First of all, unequal development of states has led to the polarization of the world. The process of globalization has not begun simultaneously for all. I consider that economic factor plays an important role in the establishment of dialogue between West and the Islamic civilization.”

Farhad Mammadov said that it is necessary to form the system of values corresponding with the traditions of benevolence in the society and religion.
