Consulate General in Tabriz: Contacts are being continued for handover of Khalida Khalid and Shamkhal Huseynov to the Azerbaijani side

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva, Shamil Alibeyli - APA. Alovsat Huseynov, the brother of Shamkhal Huseynov detained in Iran has commented on media reports that Khalida Khalid and his brother have been released.

Alovsat Huseynov told APA that Azerbaijan's Consulate General in Tabriz said Khalida Khalid and Shamkhal Huseynov have not been handed over yet.

"But the consulate said they will be released tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. They will be likely handed over to Azerbaijan's embassy in Tehran."

The Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Tabriz told APA that the contacts are being continued for handover of Khalida Khalid and Shamkhal Huseynov to the Azerbaijani side. They are expected to be handed over in the near future.

Khalida Khalid and Shamkhal Huseynov were arrested in Tabriz on April 30. Following the two notes of Azerbaijan, Iran’s Foreign Ministry reported that they were detained because of illegal activities.

Though Iran announced that Khalida Khalid and Shamkhal Huseynov were released, but they have not been handed over to Azerbaijan yet.
