Azerbaijani president meets with Italian deputy economic development minister

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has today met with Italy's Deputy Minister of Economic Development Ivan Scalfarotto, the president’s press service reported.

Ivan Scalfarotto extended Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni`s greetings to the head of state. He expressed his satisfaction with his country`s involvement in the Southern Gas Corridor and its participation in this event. Ivan Scalfarotto said the cooperation between the two countries is also successfully developing in other areas. The undersecretary of state for economic development stressed that they support Azerbaijan’s investments in Italy. He stressed the importance of strengthening efforts to develop Azerbaijani-Italian cooperation in other fields.

Saying that bilateral cooperation between the two countries covers energy, trade and other fields, President Ilham Aliyev noted successful activities of Italian companies in Azerbaijan. The head of state stressed that the Southern Gas Corridor is an important project that unites the two countries, adding that it will play an important role in developing cooperation in the years ahead. President Ilham Aliyev said Italy will be one of the largest gas export markets for Azerbaijan.

The head of state thanked for Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni`s greetings and asked Ivan Scalfarotto to extend his greetings to the Prime Minister of Italy.
