Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Jasurbek Choriev, Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, on September 17, the MFA told APA.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and TRACECA, as well as issues related to expanding transport and communication links in the region.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to cooperation within TRACECA and plays an active role in developing transport connectivity between Europe and Asia. In this context, it was stated that Azerbaijan's favorable geographical location, modern transport infrastructure, and transit capabilities make a significant contribution to efficient and sustainable development.
Information was provided on the work carried out through Azerbaijan's initiatives and efforts to develop transport infrastructure, expand the capacity of the Baku International Sea Trade Port, and improve railway and road transport connections.
The importance of further enhancing the potential of the Middle Corridor, increasing freight transportation volumes along the route, simplifying and digitalizing transit procedures, and strengthening coordination among participating countries was emphasized.
The parties also exchanged views on opportunities to develop regional transport connectivity and other issues of mutual interest.
