They discussed bilateral relations between the US and Azerbaijan, as well as the cooperation within the international organizations such the UN and NATO.
Giving information about the negotiations on the peaceful settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stated that foremost Armenian troops must be withdrawn from the Azerbaijani territories and this demand has been also reflected in the resolutions of the UN Security Council.
Karen Donfried said the US administration supports the fair settlement of the conflict through peace. Noting the important role of Azerbaijan in the energy security of the region, the assistant stated that they are interested in further enhancing the successful cooperation in this sphere.
