Azerbaijan, Iran mull countering terrorism and extremism

Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizade has received a delegation led by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

At the meeting, the parties spoke about current economic-cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Iran, noting the existence of ample opportunities for the development of bilaterally beneficial cooperation, the Cabinet of Ministers told APA.

They mentioned that the joint works carried out in the energy supply, transportation, agriculture, culture, tourism and other fields have yielded efficient results, stressing the necessity of holding regular meetings and exchange of experience in this regard. They then touched upon issues of international cooperation, discussing the fight against terrorism and extremism and the settlement of regional conflicts. The parties also emphasized that the Nagorno-Karabakh problem can only be settled in compliance with international law, Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and the principles of border inviolability.
