On July 23, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received Ruslan Edelgeriyev, aide to the President of the Russian Federation and the President’s special representative for climate issues, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, APA reports.
During the meeting, cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in the field of combating climate change, COP issues, as well as regional and international topics of mutual interest were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided information on the experience gained and results achieved by Azerbaijan within the framework of its COP29 Presidency, as well as the country’s close cooperation with Australia, which will hold the COP31 Presidency, and host country Türkiye.
The meeting also touched upon issues of bilateral cooperation concerning the Caspian Sea. In this context, the importance of intensifying the activities of the bilateral Working Group established on the Caspian Sea was emphasized.
Noting the importance of protecting the Caspian Sea’s water resources and unique ecosystem, attention was drawn to the significance of applying innovative technologies and implementing joint projects in this direction, including in the agricultural sector.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other bilateral issues of mutual interest.
