Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the main problem in relations with the United States is not mediation, but Washington’s approach, APA reports.
Araghchi made the remarks while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s visit to Tehran.
“We currently have no problem with mediation regarding the United States. The problem is America’s approach. It is an unreasonable, excessive and hegemonic approach, which has been met with a firm response from the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the minister said.
According to him, there will be no basis for progress between the two countries until the United States understands that it has no option but to respect the Iranian people and their national interests.
“There is no need for any exchange of messages on this issue. It is enough for the United States to reconsider its policies,” Araghchi stressed.
