A trilateral meeting at the level of deputy foreign ministers of Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia is being held in Tbilisi, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports citing the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It was stated that Georgia’s Foreign Minister, Maka Bochorishvili opened the meeting.
She spoke about the strategic role of the South Caucasus, the region’s potential, and formats for cooperation. She noted that holding this trilateral meeting is a manifestation of Georgia's sincere desire to contribute to the development of regional cooperation and the identification of common interests. She emphasized that the South Caucasus is a region of strategic importance and that trilateral cooperation is extremely necessary at this time.
The report mentioned that the purpose of the closed-format meeting is to share the common interests and views of the three countries in areas that will contribute to strengthening mutually beneficial, practical, trilateral cooperation for the prosperity, stability, and sustainable development of the region.
"The trilateral meeting between the foreign ministries does not contradict or replace any other existing cooperation format; on the contrary, it expresses the additional efforts of the three neighboring countries to establish constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation. Prior to the meeting, consultations were held between Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, and Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, during which the initiative to hold a trilateral meeting between the three foreign ministries was proposed," the report stated.

The purpose of the meeting is to share the views and ideas of the three countries on possible directions that will lay the foundation for trilateral cooperation.
"The meeting will discuss the possibilities for trilateral cooperation. Areas of interest for the three countries will be identified, and potential cooperation directions will be determined so that the countries of the region can develop a joint approach to several issues. These will be the main topics of today's discussions," said Lasha Darsalia, Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, to journalists.
