NATO Parliamentary Assembly to adopt resolution on Georgia

Baku. Ramil Mammadli–APA. NATO Parliamentary Assembly is expected during its autumn session in Valencia, Spain to adopt resolution on territorial integrity of Georgia and its NATO membership. Chairman of United Azerbaijan People’s Front Party and member of the Parliament Gudrat Hasanguliyev said the draft resolution had already been supported by all committees of the NATO PA and it was not expected to face with any difficulties, the party sources told APA.

The resolution considers univocal recognition of Georgia’s sovereign rights over South Ossetia and Abkhazia and its territorial integrity. It demands from Russia to fulfill completely the six-point Medvedev-Sarkozy plan and to withdraw its forces from the Georgia’s territory of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

One of the important points of the resolution relates to the Georgia’s membership to NATO. “Leaders of NATO member countries are recommended to support the action plan on the Georgia’s membership to the Alliance at their summit in December”, said in the resolution. Georgian Vice-Prime Minister and State Minister of Euro-Atlantic Integration Georgiy Baramidze also attends the NATO PA autumn session.
