President Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan will assist NATO to finance security forces in Afghanistan

â€œWe are seriously thinking to contribute to Afghanistan National Army Trust Fund and considering our financial contribution in this areaâ€, said President Aliyev.

Azerbaijani President also assured NATO leadership that Azerbaijan will continue its cooperation with NATO on Afghanistan. Among the concrete directions of this cooperation, President Aliyev noted the deployment of Azerbaijani servicemen in this country, permission to use its air space for ISAF cargo traffic, training of personnel, particularly diplomats for Afghanistan.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen noted that NATO appreciates Azerbaijan’s contribution to the operations in Afghanistan.

The settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and transportation of Azerbaijani energy resources to Europe were also in the focus of attention during the meeting in NATO headquarters.
