Director of the US and Canada Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences: The US withdrawal from Iraq makes real Israelâ€™s air strikes on Iran

He said debates are held in the US regarding the declaration of war on Iran.
â€œSome support immediate war with Iran. They say Iran must be bombed, before it has nuclear weapon. The other group considers that the war does not favor the US. They say election process has started in the US and the war will damage the economy of the US. Therefore, the war does not favor the Obama administration. But actually war has started between Israel and Iran. For the time being this is cyberwar. Terrorist attacks are carried out against the physicians and diplomats,â€ he said.

Sergei Rogov said U.S. withdrawal from Iraq in later 2011 and handing over the power to local regime created condition for Israelâ€™s attack on Iran. â€œIraqi regime can allow Israel to use its air space for strike on Iranâ€.

Touching upon Russia-US relations, the expert spoke about the missile defense system in Eastern Europe as the most disputable issue between the two countries. He said NATO countries were expected to adopt a document on Eastern Europe missile defense system in their Chicago Summit in the near future. â€œMost probably this document will be adopted without Russia. U.S. didnâ€™t give positive response to Russiaâ€™s proposal to integrate its missile defense systems into NATO systems. Therefore Russian President will attend G8 Summit in Chicago, but will not join the NATO Summitâ€.

Rogov said despite escalation of tensions with Washington, Moscow didnâ€™t want to cease relations completely. He said newly-elected president of Russia would also support the continuation of normal relations with the United States and solution of all contradictions.
