Azerbaijani ambassador presents credentials to Lithuanian president - <font color=red>PHOTO</font>

Following the presentation ceremony, Azerbaijani ambassador and Lithuanian president held a one-on-one meeting. Ambassador Mammadzadeh extended greetings of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to President GrybauskaitÄ—. Lithuanian President said she remembered her visit to Azerbaijan last year with great pleasure, thanked President Aliyev for warm welcoming and asked the ambassador to extend her greetings and esteems to Azerbaijani President. GrybauskaitÄ— said the high-level visits contributed to the development of relations between the two countries and underlined the role of President Ilham Aliyev in the Lithuanian-Azerbaijani relations. Lithuanian president noted that she invited Azerbaijani president to pay official visit to Lithuania.

Ambassador Mammadzadeh said the invitation was accepted with great pleasure and added that our country is interested in deepening relations with Lithuania in all spheres, including information technologies, agriculture, education and culture.

He said Azerbaijani businessmen would visit Lithuania early in March to know free economic zones and meet Lithuanian businessmen. Lithuanian foreign minister Audronius AÅ¾ubalis is expected to visit Azerbaijan in April and second meeting of the intergovernmental commission will be held in Baku. Lithuanian goods will be displayed in fair in Baku.

Measures are being taken for the visit of Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius to Azerbaijan in June, 2012. Azerbaijanâ€™s Education Minister plans to visit Lithuania at the invitation of his counterpart, mutual visits will be organized with the view of strengthening relations with a number of other ministries.

Ambassador highly appreciated the Lithuanian governmentâ€™s support for the education of the Azerbaijani students in Lithuania, said the Embassy established scholarship named after Heydar Aliyev for 10-15 excellent Lithuanian students. President said the Embassyâ€™s step will create atmosphere of healthy competition and Heydar Aliyev will always be commemorated.

Enhancement of cultural relations and holding of culture days were underlined among the priorities.

At the end of the meeting, Lithuanian President Dalia GrybauskaitÄ— congratulated Ambassador Hasan Mammadzadeh on his appointment and wished him success in his future activity.
