Baku-APA. “After today’s meetings and discussions, once again we are becoming sure that relations between Azerbaijan and Poland have strategic character. Your visit will open new opportunities for development of these relations. Our relations have very good history. We always have very successful political cooperation and when we look at the agenda of bilateral relations, we witness that these relations are very rich. I am sure, our cooperation in politics will continue successfully. While, today we had wide exchange of views for the perspective of cooperation in the field of economics. There are different thoughts and ideas. I am sure, the business forum to be conducted today, will be important for the new steps in this direction. In the economic field, we have to follow more active policy for rising bilateral trade and execution of bilateral investment projects in future. Economic relations for sure will stimulate relations strongly in other fieldsâ€, said Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan.
President also told that exchange of views for current level of cooperation and future perspectives were done in the field of energy. “For a time our state bodies are conducting discussions and exchanging views in this field. New opportunities are studied for taking out Azerbaijani oil and gas to the world and European market. Azerbaijani-Polish relations have important role in this field. I am sure that Poland, as current president of European Union, will have say for our general discussions with EU. Azerbaijan has very rich oil and gas reserves, varied export infrastructure- oil and gas as well as 7 pipes for European markets and they are active. EU and Azerbaijan relations are developing rapidly and I am sure that Poland during presidency at EU will make valuable gift for development of these relations. I am sure that the statement signed by European Commission President Mr. Baroso’s visit to Azerbaijan will stimulate cooperation strongly in future. In general, Azerbaijan and European Union relations have been discussed widely today and there are no differences of opinions in this direction. We are interested in stimulation of these relations. As these relations have very big importance for both Europe and Azerbaijan and partnership currently under formation has strategic significance. We want partnership relations with Europe to develop moreâ€.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that exchange of views for regional and security issues are conducted as well. “Poland in its region and Azerbaijan in own region have very important positions for development of Caspian Sea-Baltic Sea cooperation. Both countries in their own regions have very strong geo-political positions and decisive say for economic potential. We have to do so that Caspian-Black-Baltic Sea states to have more intensive cooperation and relations between Azerbaijan and Poland have very significant role in this field. Beside regional cooperation, we also looked through regional security issues. Especially, I informed Mr. President on Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorno Karabakh conflict solution ways and current situation on negotiations. Once again, I want to say that this conflict is very dangerous and the biggest injustice for the region. Internationally recognized territorial integrity of Azerbaijan has been violated for a long time by Armenia, 20 percent of our lands are under occupation. Azerbaijanis underwent ethnic cleansing policy and more than one million Azerbaijanis living as refugees and IDPs far away from their native lands. International organizations expressed their opinions. The UN, EU. European Parliament, Council of Europe, OSCE passed resolutions and decisions. As, these resolutions and decisions create legal base for solution of the issue. Of course, solution of the issue soon within international law norms and territorial integrity will bring peace and cooperation to the region and in this case, all the processes in the region will develop more rapidly and positivelyâ€.
At the end, the President of Azerbaijan emphasized that first official visit of the President of Poland passed successfully and conclusions of the visit would bring up Azerbaijani-Polish relations into new phase.
