Kallas: The EU will try to agree on the 21st package of sanctions against Russia on July 15

EU ambassadors will make their next attempt to agree on the 21st sanctions package against Russia on July 15, when the so-called price ceiling on Russian oil expires. EU Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas announced this at a press conference following the EU Foreign Ministers' meeting.

"We will have a new meeting of our ambassadors on Wednesday, but I cannot give any guarantees," she said, answering a question about next steps on the 21st sanctions package, which the ministers failed to agree on on July 13.

She emphasized that the EU is not currently planning to switch to Plan B, which would involve a separate extension of the price ceiling on Russian oil, unless this decision is made as part of a comprehensive agreement on the 21st sanctions package as a whole. "I cannot rule out any solution, but our goal is to reach an agreement. If we don't reach an agreement, we will work on Plan B, but for now, we are working on Plan A," she said.
