"In recent years, Azerbaijan has been comprehensively modernizing its media landscape," Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said during the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, APA's correspondent dispatched to Shusha reports.
Hajiyev noted that the reforms being implemented are aimed at strengthening professional journalism, enhancing the capacity of media institutions, promoting ethical standards, advancing media literacy, and supporting the media's adaptation to the rapidly evolving technological environment.
He stressed that Azerbaijan frequently becomes the target of international disinformation campaigns. "Many politicians and experts have witnessed large-scale disinformation and smear campaigns directed against Azerbaijan. We verify this information and provide fact-based responses. However, proving the truth has become more difficult today because technology giants and some institutions that are supposed to fulfill the role of professional journalism sometimes actively participate in the dissemination of disinformation."
He emphasized that the Shusha Forum serves as a reminder that peacebuilding is above all else.
"The discussions and exchange of views held within the framework of this forum will create a solid foundation for the formation of a stronger, more resilient, and more responsible global information environment," Hajiyev added.
