Polish President begins official visit to Azerbaijan

Komorowski was welcomed at the airport by First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov and other government officials, APA reports.

Komorowski and Eyyubov had short protocol meeting in the VIP-room of the airport.

This is Komorowski’s first visit to Azerbaijan, APA reports with reference to the official website of the Polish President. Komorowski will meet with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov. After the negotiations the heads of states will sign a number of agreements on cooperation in the fields of foreign policy, economy, sciences and culture.

Agreements on the cultural cooperation, as well as cooperation between the veterinary services of the two countries and cooperation in the field of information in 2011-2013 are expected to be signed during the visit. The energy issue, particularly Odessa-Brody pipeline and opportunities for transportation of Azerbaijani oil to Poland will also be on agenda during the meetings in Baku. Komorowski will also visit the Alley of Honor and the Alley of Martyrs in Baku, as well as memorial of the Polish engineer Pavel Pototski, who contributed to the development of the Azerbaijani capital early in 1920s. Komorowski is also expected to attend the Azerbaijan-Poland business forum. He will visit Icherisheher (the Old City). Bronislaw Komorowski will end his visit to Azerbaijan on July 26.

He will leave Azerbaijan for Georgia.
