President Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan-Iran relations are of great importance not only for our countries, but also for strengthening security measures in the region

The head of state underlined the importance of the visit in terms of the development of Azerbaijan-Iran relations. Noting that friendship and brotherhood relations are strengthening, President Ilham Aliyev said these relations give impetus to the development of the relations between the two states.

The head of state said Azerbaijan and Iran have active cooperation in all spheres and underlined that political relations strengthened. Azerbaijani President said there are good results in the economic sphere, concrete projects are implemented in transport and energy sectors, he underlined the necessity of more active cooperation in this area in future.

The head of state said the cultural and humanitarian relations are on the highest level and underlined the importance of extending cooperation in this field. He said Azerbaijan-Iran relations are of great importance not only for our countries, but also for strengthening security measures in the region. Touching on the interparliamentary relations, President said the cooperation in this sphere is good, mutual visits should be paid for enhancing these relations.

Ali Larijani said he last visited Azerbaijan 14 years ago, underlined that he witnessed great development processes in the country, he regarded it as the result of the proper policy.

Noting that Iran-Azerbaijan relations have historical roots, Ali Larijani underlined special role of Heydar Aliyev in the opening of the new page in the relations of our countries. He said there are ample opportunities to enhance the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan.
