Elmar Mammadyarov receives Deputy Foreign Minister of Japan Hisashi Tokunaga

Baku â€“ APA. Azerbaijanâ€™s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister of Japan Hisashi Tokunaga, Foreign Ministryâ€™s press service told APA. Hisashi Tokunaga handed in the letter of gratitude on behalf of Japanese Foreign Minister Takeaki Matsumoto to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister. Hisashi Tokunaga said they highly appreciate the moral and material support of Azerbaijan to Japan over the natural disaster. He regarded Azerbaijanâ€™s step as a symbol of friendship between the two countries. Deputy Foreign Minister of Japan spoke about the reconstructions done to eliminate the consequences of the tragedy.

Elmar Mammadyarov expressed his hope that the period of reconstruction will end soon and underlined that Azerbaijan is ready to further help Japan. Minister said Azerbaijan shares the grief of the homeless people and noted that Azerbaijan has about one million refugees and internally displaced people as a result of the aggression and ethnic cleansing policy carried out by Armenia.

The sides underlined the importance of improving bilateral relations and continuing dialogue in the fields of economy and energy, exchanged views on the issues of mutual interest.
