Relations between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the World Customs Organization (WCO) have been strong for many years and continue at the same high level today, Ian Saunders, Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, told journalists during his official visit to Azerbaijan, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, Azerbaijan actively participates in the WCO's key working and governing bodies.
"In addition, Azerbaijan also plays an important role at the practical level. The country trains experts accredited by the World Customs Organization, and these experts take part in implementation and capacity-building programs carried out in other WCO member states. This is one of Azerbaijan's significant contributions," he said.
Ian Saunders added that over the past two years Azerbaijan has actively supported the World Customs Organization by financing programs aimed at strengthening the capacity of other customs administrations.
"As a result, Azerbaijan shares its experience within the organization's working bodies, contributes to governance processes, and provides both expert and financial support. This enables Azerbaijan's knowledge and experience to be disseminated more widely throughout the international customs community. This is truly a very strong partnership," he said.
