Brussels hosts first meeting of EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly

APA reports that the meeting was opened by president of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek. He welcomed the participation of the parliamentarians of the Eastern Partnership countries (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine and Moldova) at the meeting: â€œThe establishment of such institution like EURONEST is very important from the point of view of the European Unionâ€™s cooperation with its neighbors. We intend to establish a common house for everybody for the purpose of discussion of various issuesâ€.

According to Buzek, EURONEST will stimulate the cooperation between EU and Eastern Partnership and will create opportunities for the strengthening of relations between the citizens of these countries: â€œWithin the new structure the parliamentarians will discuss the democracy, human rights and supremacy of law issues. We want to cooperate closely in field of economics. The discussions will be continued on several spheres, including the signing of association agreement, simplification of visa regimeâ€.

The Azerbaijani delegation, which attends the first meeting of EURONEST, is led by First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov.
