Ilham Aliyev: Relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are experiencing a new stage of development

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev noted that it is the first visit of Viktor Yanukovich to Azerbaijan, as a Ukrainian president. “Negotiations shows close relations between two states”, - Head of State emphasized.

“Relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are experiencing a new stage of development”, - Ilham Aliyev said.

The President noted that the two states actively cooperate and support each other in international organizations, the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, CIS and other international organizations.

Azerbaijani President stressed that at today’s meeting was discussed a broad agenda of economic and political interaction. "I informed the president of Ukraine on the status of negotiations to settle the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. I want to express my gratitude to Ukraine for their principled stance on the conflict settlement, as reflected in the signed today a joint statement, which says that the conflict should be resolved on the basis of norms and principles of international law, taking into account the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of state borders", - the president said.

Ilham Aliyev emphasized that also was discussed the economic relations during the negotiations. "Saw good numbers, results, growth in trade. The rapid growth of trade gives, of course, great optimism and hope", - State of Head said.

President Aliyev noted that there are investment projects planned to implement. “Cooperation in military-technical field is extending. An important part of these relations is cooperation in the energy sector”, - Aliyev said.
