Kanat Saudabayev expressed his hope that during its chairmanship Kazakhstan would achieve some progress in the solution to the “protracted conflicts”.
“Taking into account Kazakhstan’s mental proximity with the participants of the conflicts and President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s influence among these nations, we think we can give an impetus to the efforts of our partners in this hard process,” he said at the meeting of the UN Security Council.
Saudabayev said his visit to the South Caucasus on February 15 in capacity of OSCE Chairman-in-Office would be devoted to the solution of those issues.

Protracted conflicts in the post-Soviet area are Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, South Ossetia and Abkhazia problem of Georgia and Transnistria problem of Moldova.
