He said that the embassy immediately contacted the Iraqi Interior Ministry and the ministry confirmed that the bus carrying Azerbaijanis pilgrims from Kerbela to Samarra had been fired. Azerbaijani Leyla Ahmadova, 16, died, Mushfig Abdullayev, 24, and Nushaba Nazarova, 35, were wounded. The ambassador said the wounded received emergency aid.
“They were treated in Kazimiyye hospital in Baghdad, and later were placed in hotel,†he said.
The ambassador said Leyla Ahmadova had been buried in Najaf.
