PACE committees elect their Chairpersons

Baku â€“ APA. The ten general committees of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have elected their Chairpersons, each for a term of office of one year, APA reports. The Chairs are also members of the Bureau â€“ which prepares the Assemblyâ€™s work â€“ and the Joint Committee, which is the organ of co-ordination with the Committee of Ministers, the Council of Europeâ€™s executive body. The full list of Chairpersons is as follows: BjÃ¶rn von Sydow (Sweden, SOC) - Political Affairs Committee, Christos Pourgourides (Cyprus, EPP/CD) - Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights, Paul Wille (Belgium, ALDE) - Committee on Economic Affairs and Development, Liliane Maury Pasquier (Switzerland, SOC) - Social, Health and Family Affairs Committee, John Greenway (United Kingdom, EDG) - Committee on Migration, Refugees and Population, Andrew McIntosh (United Kingdom, SOC) - Committee on Culture, Science and Education, Aleksei Lotman (Estonia, UEL) - Committee on the Environment, Agriculture and Local and Regional Affairs, JosÃ© Mendes Bota (Portugal, EPP/CD) - Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men, Dick Marty (Switzerland, ALDE) - Committee on the Honouring of Obligations and Commitments by Member States of the Council of Europe (Monitoring Committee) and Holger Haibach (Germany, EPP/CD) - Committee on Rules of Procedure, Immunities and Institutional Affairs.
