Azerbaijan sends strong note to Iran

Ambassador Bahrami was informed that Iranâ€™s Sahar TV posted video tape and article on its Internet page about foreign and home policy of Azerbaijan on October 4, 2009. The materials purposefully distorted the government policy of Azerbaijan, insulted the national flag of Azerbaijan and kept slanders against the government officials and parliamentarians of the country.

The deputy minister said the preconceived materials spread by the Iranian official mass media created serious concern in Azerbaijan. He reminded that such materials were published in the Iranian media earlier. The ambassador was informed that insults and slanders against Azerbaijan passed all bounds.

Sadigov emphasized that above-mentioned issues could seriously damage the relations between the two countries. He expressed strong protest of Azerbaijan against the unacceptable actions of the Iranian official organizations and insisted that the Islamic Republic of Iran makes appropriate measures for prevention, investigation of such actions and informing Azerbaijan about that.

Then official note of Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs was presented to Ambassador Bahrami.

The ambassador said he would inform the Iranian government about the meeting and note.
