Illegal structures of Seyran Ohanyan and other former officials on shore of Lake Goycha demolished

Illegal structures belonging to a number of former high-ranking officials on the shore of Lake Goycha have been demolished at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia, Arminfo reports.

According to Arminfo, the fences of the houses of former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and former police chief Vladimir Gasparyan, as well as cottages belonging to the brother of former Education Minister and deputy chairman of the Republican Party Armen Ashotyan, were demolished.

In addition, facilities belonging to former governor of Gegharkunik Province Rafik Grigoryan and the son of former Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Samvel Nikoyan were also demolished.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, all of the demolished structures are considered illegal because they are located below the 1905-meter elevation mark from the level of Lake Goycha. Under Armenian legislation, these areas are considered flood zones, and permanent construction is not allowed there.
