"The Azerbaijani side has completed its part of the work on finalizing the peace agreement," Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told journalists, APA reports.
The minister said that Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a joint statement within the framework of the Washington Summit: "The text of the peace agreement has already been initialed, and the text is open to the public. Azerbaijan's position on this issue is principled. The state's official position has been expressed by President Ilham Aliyev. Our expectation is that Armenia will remove its territorial claims against Azerbaijan from its Constitution. After that, the peace agreement can be signed," he said.
Jeyhun Bayramov noted that after the parliamentary elections, Nikol Pashinyan once again stated that steps are being taken toward adopting a new Constitution in Armenia: "The main issue that interests and concerns us is the territorial claims against Azerbaijan contained in the Declaration of Independence. Once this is resolved, our expectation is that this process will be completed as soon as possible," he said.
