Official Tehran has condemned the US attacks on Iran, APA's Tehran bureau reports.
Iran's Foreign Ministry described the strikes carried out by the US military on several locations in the country's south and two railway bridges in eastern Iran early Thursday morning as a "war crime."
The ministry said the attacks constituted a violation of the UN Charter as well as the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding on ending the war.
According to the Foreign Ministry's statement, the attacks were carried out under the pretext of responding to incidents involving vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz over the past 48 hours. The statement said Iran considers the action "an act of aggression and evidence of the United States' failure to adhere to the agreement on ending the war."
The statement concluded by stressing that Iran will defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity and that those responsible for the attacks will be held accountable.
It should be recalled that several locations in Iran were struck by the United States overnight and during the day, resulting in casualties and damage.
