"One of the important theses in our First Vice-President's speech was related to the purpose of the Council," Ramid Namazov, Chairman of the Temporary Commission of the Milli Majlis on Countering Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats, said during a public hearing on the topic "Digital Development, Artificial Intelligence and the Protection of Children from Harmful Influences on Social Media Platforms," APA reports.
He said that the main objectives are not only to implement new technologies, but also to give a strong boost to the country's economy, attract investments, support local startups and establish a more efficient public administration system.
"Besides this, cybersecurity was one of the central messages of the meeting. The First Vice-President noted that the development of artificial intelligence is progressing even faster than currently predicted, creating not only new opportunities but also new threats. Therefore, it is now more important than ever to be prepared for risks in the fields of cybersecurity and information security.
During the meeting held in February, our esteemed President also clearly stated that our country was subjected to a highly organized and aggressive cyberattack last year. The Milli Majlis Temporary Commission on Countering Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats also periodically, and in special cases, informs the public about hybrid threats carried out against our country.
These facts once again demonstrate that as the digitalization process deepens and the geopolitical situation changes, cybersecurity is no longer merely a technical issue but has become a matter of national security."
