UK hosts conference â€œSouth Caucasian conflicts and European energy securityâ€

Baku â€“ APA. British Labor Party hosted the conference â€œSouth Caucasian conflicts and European energy securityâ€ within the framework of its annual congress in Brighton. UK energy minister Lord Hunt, Prime Ministerâ€™s energy adviser Malcolm Wicks, chairman of the parliamentâ€™s foreign relations committee Mike Gapes, Azerbaijani ambassador to UK Fakhraddin Gurbanov, members of Labor Party, representatives of London-based European-Azerbaijan Society and public community attended the conference.

The Azerbaijani embassy in London told APA that the speakers emphasized the increasing role of Azerbaijan in the European energy security and useful energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom. They also mentioned the regional conflicts which are preventing full exploration of energy resources of the region.

Ambassador Gurbanov overviewed the Azerbaijanâ€™s energy policy underlining the importance of large-scale projects carried out in the region and said it created good basis for further development of cooperation. The diplomat said delaying of solution to Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict create obstacle to the extension of cooperation between the regional and European countries.
