Turkish MP nominates for PACE presidency

APAâ€™s correspondent accredited in CE reports that Chief Delegate of Turkey in PACE Movlut Chavushoglu was officially nominated for the assembly presidency on behalf of the group at the meeting.

Note that two deputies were nominated from the EDG. Chavushoglu gained more votes than EDG Chairman David Wilshire and was officially nominated on behalf of the group.

It should be noted that election for PACE presidency is held every two years. Current President Luis Maria de Puch was elected to this post in winter session, 2008. The next election will be held in PACEâ€™s winter session in January 2010.
