First plenary meeting of Turkic-speaking countries Parliamentary Assembly takes place in Azerbaijanâ€™s capital

Speaker of Azerbaijani parliament Ogtay Asadov made a keynote speech at the meeting. He noted that establishment of TurkPA was a successful step. Ogtay Asadov said establishment of such an organization would strengthen the relations of Turkic-speaking countries, help maintain peace and stability in the region.

Speakers of other parliaments will also make speeches at the meeting. The Statute of TurkPA, regulations of the secretariat will be adopted, secretary general and assistants elected at the meeting. Following this, the final document of the first plenary meeting â€“ Baku Declaration will be adopted.

The delegations led by speaker of Turkish parliament Mehmet Ali Shahin, speaker of Kazakhstanâ€™s parliament Oral Mukhamedjanov and speaker of Kyrgyzstanâ€™s parliament Aytibay Tagayev are attending the meeting. Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan miss the meeting.
