Council of Europeâ€™s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities passes decision to observe municipal elections in Azerbaijan

APA reports that the decision was passed at the Bureau meeting of the Congress Strasbourg on September 21.

A report on the results of his visit to Azerbaijan from 10 to 14 September was presented by Acting President Ian Micallef at the Bureau Meeting of the Congress in Strasbourg on Monday, 21 September. Micallef confirmed the positive spirit of the meetings. Although, he stressed that he found local democracy in Azerbaijan still in poor shape.

The Bureau of the Congress agreed to deploy both a pre-electoral mission and an observation mission to Azerbaijan.
