Strategic Research Center organizes round table â€œFigures of Political Islamâ€

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. The Strategic Research Center under the President of Azerbaijan held a round table entitled â€œFigures of Political Islamâ€. Ambassadors and other representatives of the foreign diplomatic missions in Baku, experts and political analysts researching regional and international affairs joined the round table, APA reports. Professor Mohammad Eyyub, University of Michigan, USA and Chairman of the Russian Islamic Committee Heydar Jamal delivered speeches at the event. Eyyub, who is an author and co-author of 12 books and 92 researching works about conflicts and wars, considers that Islam has a sustainable political appearance unlike other religions and political Islam became one of the motivating forces of current global political processes. The professor said it was one of the most debated issues in the West, but these debates were conducted mostly by populists. Heydar Jamal said Islam was a challenge of political society from the very first day.

Political scientist Vafa Guluzadeh said Islam was rapidly spreading in the world and therefore superpowers paid serious attention to it and spent enormous resources to learn this religion. He said superpowers intended to make Islamic nations obedient.

Theologian Nariman Gasimzadeh and other participants also expressed their opinions and asked questions.
