Baku – APA. On September 16, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Muslim countries’ extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors to Azerbaijan on forthcoming Ramadan holiday, the President’s press service told the APA. The head of the state congratulated the ambassadors on Ramadan holiday and asked them to convey his congratulations to the heads of the states they represent. The President spoke about Islamic solidarity and expressed his confidence that friendship and fraternity relations between Muslim countries and Azerbaijan will be strengthened in future.

The head of state noted that Baku was declared the capital of Islamic culture: “It’s a great honor for us and I’m so pleased that Baku successfully uses this honorable name. There have been held a great number of events in Baku in order to strengthen the solidarity of the Islamic world”.

President Aliyev saying that Azerbaijan has active relations with Islamic countries stated that these relations are successful within the framework of international organizations. Azerbaijan is an active member of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and it always focuses this direction in its foreign policy. Our cooperation in the United Nations and OIC is very important for us. Adoption of the resolution on situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan at the UN General Assembly became possible thanks to the support of the Muslim countries. We also take considerable measures for strengthening Islamic solidarity in all international organizations.
